As a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor certified with Body, Arts, and Science International (BASI), I discovered the magic of Pilates through the recovery of a failed spinal fusion surgery. I hold a BS in Public Health and Wellness with a focus on Kinesiology and have over 200 internship hours with various Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Movement Therapists and Structural Integration Bodyworkers. It was my own personal journey of recovery that inspired me to turn this passion into a career of learning and sharing it with others.
Sparked by this passion, in 2011 I quit my desk job and downsized to a backpack to travel the world and learn. I have traveled to 22 countries, and lived in 3 different countries in South America and Asia. After certifying in energy work in Thailand and Indonesia, I became a Certified Yoga Instructor at Yoga Vidya Gurukul in India. I'm a perpetual student of all things movement and mindfulness and trained under co-founder Elenore Chriswell Hanna in a form of muscle and fascia release exercise method called Hanna Somatics.
I view Pilates functional movement as a great way to get out of your head, get into your body and get centered, grounded and dialed into your breath. By piecing together various modalities, movement disciplines and meditation principles along with in-depth study and obsession with Anatomy and Physiology, I have discovered a gentle, zero impact way to activate specific muscles while releasing chronically contracted ones. I have personally found relief from chronic pain and restored freedom of movement thanks to these practices. Over the years I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my knowledge to help countless people find relief from pain and discover new ways to move from within and feel better in their bodies.
